![]() They suggested the NB may be the problem, and to RMA the board. In the process of doing these CMOS resets, two things were happening.2 LEDs were just flashing orange, and the post code was now 88 (actually it was 8.8) The post code listings in the manual only say that there is "no definition" for a 88 code in the Award bios. ![]() Did an overnight CMOS reset.you get the idea. Did at least 3 hard CMOS resets (battery out for 5+ mins). So now the board will not power on at all. As a slightly comic aside.all this happened while I stepped out to hit the bathroom! I come back and I'm like "Why is it off?!" My other friend presses reset to reboot.the system powers off. One of the guys disables DX10 in the options menu (I think to check the difference between DX 9 & 10) and the system freezes solid. We were putting LOTRO through its paces in DX10 and loving how good it looked. ![]() Given that nothing was acting screwy and everything seemed cool.we marked it up as being just a bit odd. We assume it was just sort of "off gassing" from the newly fired-up mobo et al. No smoke, no sparks, all components cool to the touch. ![]() Very soon after, we start to notice that 'electric burning smell'. Things are going OK, so we put in the other 2 sticks. At this point, we only used 2 sticks of RAM, as I didn't want to install Vista with all 4 sticks. Did a build yesterday, and everything was great.
